Beauty and the Beast

This year, my high school chose to produce Disney’s Beauty and the Beast for our annual fall musical (the biggest production of the year). I received the official role of Lighting Designer for the show. Given that the unique set design was constantly changing, with any given set piece rarely in the same place twice (and the fact that we didn’t have any gel scrollers or intelligent fixtures), it was a challenge to implement my vision for each scene.

I eventually ended up using every decent lighting fixture we had, nearly every lighting circuit, and over 15 two-fers. In total, the lighting inventory used was:

  • 8x Source Four Jr. 36°
  • 8x Source Four Jr. 26°
  • 2x Source Four Jr. Zoom
  • 1x Source Four 90°
  • 1x Source Four 36°
  • 12x Source Four 26°
  • 4x Source Four 19°
  • 12x Strand SL36
  • 14x Strand SL26
  • 4x Altman 175Q fresnel
  • 12x Altman 165Q fresnel
  • 8x Altman 65Q fresnel
  • 5x generic 6” Altman fresnel
  • 22x S4 PAR WFL
  • 6x S4 PARnel
  • 6x Altman Sky Cyc
  • 1x Altman 360Q 6x12
